Meet Our Staff

Charlie McDavid - Director

 

Charlie McDavid played baseball throughout childhood and beyond his high school days. He received his Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Mobile in 2000 where he also played baseball on a scholarship, primarily playing 3rd base. Charlie has coached little league baseball, travel baseball, All-Star recreation baseball teams, and girls’ softball since 2002.

Charlie started his career with the City of Daphne as part-time Athletic Associate in February of 2000. He was later hired as the full time Athletic Coordinator in September of 2000. Charlie was named City of Daphne Recreation Department Manager in October of 2019.
 

In January of 2021, Charlie was promoted to City of Daphne Recreation Director.

During Charlie’s leisure time, he enjoys fishing, cooking-out with friends, and spending time with his 3 kids, wife and their family.  

 

Ben Davis - Deputy Director

Ben Davis has surrounded himself with sports most of his life. From playing baseball as a young boy to playing football for our Daphne High School Trojans.  #GoTrojans

He received his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Management at Troy University in 2014. Ben has coached little league baseball, youth basketball, and youth soccer since 2014.
 

Ben was first introduced to the City of Daphne Parks and Recreation as an intern in 2014. After completion of his internship, he was hired as the City of Foley’s Athletic Associate that same year. In January of 2016, Ben was promoted to the City of Foley’s Athletic Coordinator.  We were pleased to see Ben return to the Daphne Parks and Recreation team in October of 2019 as the City of Daphne’s Athletic Coordinator. In December of 2022, Ben was named Deputy Director of the Daphne Sports & Recreation Department.

During Ben’s personal time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife and son.
   
 
 
 

David Pantovic - Professional Tennis Instructor

  
David Pantovic is a native of Čačak, Serbia and began playing tennis at age six. David attended Auburn University at Montgomery, where he played tennis and won two National titles. 

David holds an ATP Coaching Diploma and a Professional Tennis Registry Diploma. He has been a member of the USTA and UTR since 2012. 

In 2011, David moved to Fairhope, Alabama and started the Point Clear Tennis Academy, now known as Pantovic Tennis Academy. 

David was the Director at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for 10 years. In June of 2021, David was hired as the Tennis & Pickleball Complex Coordinator for the City of Daphne Sports & Recreation Department. In January of 2024, David transferred to Professional Tennis Instructor to offer more tennis instruction programs to the community.

In David’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their 4 children.
